
Alexandra Holmes is a registered psychotherapist who specializes in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-Based Therapy (MBT), Prolonged-Exposure (PE) Therapy, and Trauma-Informed Care. Alexandra’s approach is rooted in empathy and respect. The goal is to help clients establish a sense of structure in their lives, as well as improve their overall outlook and mindset. She utilizes a collaborative approach to therapy, ensuring that her clients are motivated to establish goals and work towards change.
She received her undergraduate degree at Denison University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Alexandra also graduated with honours from Yorkville University where she completed her Masters of Counselling Psychology (MACP). Alexandra has experience working with a wide demographic of clients. She specializes in trauma and neurodiversity, as she also has 5 years’ experience running Applied Behavioural Analysis with autistic children. She has experience counselling young children, teenagers, and adults with a variety of concerns including anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), addiction, as well as comorbid autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
An avid runner and soccer player, Alexandra competed on the varsity women's soccer, track and field, and cross-country teams while at Denison University. She continues to be a positive role model in the sport by dedicating her free time to refereeing those ages 8 to 60+ years, as well as coaching young children in the hopes of helping them develop a passion for the sport.
